
The activities of the Convergence Institute include the primary activity of distributing funds to other charitable organizations and to individuals for the following purposes:
- To aid in curriculum for and access to life skills programs for grade school and high school youth. The specific goal of this activity is to develop innovative or measureable approaches to youth development through both research and the application of that research in the field. This should account for about 30% of time. This activity was initiated in 1998.
- To aid in community access to the visual and performing arts. The specific goal of this activity is to assist in the creation of new venues accessible to low income families, and to support the creation of new programs and works. This should account for about 25% of time. This activity was initiated in 1998.
- To aid in the development and dissemination of educational information and programs supporting adult life skills. The specific goal here is to define and implement a structured information delivery system that helps adults develop life skills and make life decisions. This should account for about 25% of time. This activity was initiated in 2008.
- To aid in the research and development of school curriculum and organizational practice. The goal of this activity is to support the structure and implementation of frameworks and special programs to define and promote goal achievement by educational institutions. This should account for about 20% of time. This activity was initiated in 1999.
- The organization is a private foundation. It has been organized since February 1998, and began making active grants in 1998.
