Who We Are

The Convergence Institute’s board members include:
Thomas B. Martin, Mary Martin, M.D., and Thomas Martin III.

Thomas B. Martin: President of Convergence Institute. Oversees the management of investments, identifies and approves contributions, monitors program progress. Mr. Martin is President of NextLogic Capital, a management consulting firm; trustee, First Tee of Greater Austin; trustee, Austin Lyric Opera; past board member, Blanton Museum of Art. He holds a SB in electrical engineering and an AB in urban studies from Brown University and a SM in management from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and has been elected to the Phi Beta Kappa and Sigma Xi honor societies.

Mary Martin, M.D.: Secretary of the Convergence Institute. Approves contributions and monitors grant and operational processes. Mrs. Martin has been active in community affairs, having served on the Natural Science Guild and at St. John Neumann Church. She earned her M.D. from Northwestern University and was a founding partner in Brookside Associates of Winnetka, Illinois. She is now retired from medical practice.

Thomas B. Martin III: Treasurer of the Convergence Institute. Assists in handling of investments and grant policy. Mr. Martin is an aerospace engineer, formerly with Space Exploration Technologies, and currently with Sky Ways Air Transportation. In this capacity, Mr. Martin is involved with public-private partnerships and investment decision analysis. He graduated from Cornell University with a BS in mechanical engineering.
